Not Nice Spice
This holiday I focused on the simple things and didn't bother with getting carried away. We traveled for both Thanksgiving and Christmas so there was little time to decorate anyways- kill me, I didn't even put up a tree! Honestly, no one minded and I didn't have to stress that the demolition crew were coming to send it to the chipper.
I fell in love with the simplicity of this Orange Garland tutorial on Rocky Hedge Farm's site. I paired it with a wooden star garland I snagged in the Target Dollar Spot and called it a day! I made a few changes: One, I typically only use what I have on hand so I skipped the rosemary (though I'll definitely add some next year!) and sprinkled some with ground cloves. Two, I threaded the twine through like Sarah demonstrated but I needed to add a small knot to the back. It was too loose otherwise. Three, this the perfect homeschool activity for any age! Chickadee (4yr) and Little Dude (2.5yr) were able to practice fine motor skills pushing the twine through. The extra dried orange slices were a hot commodity in their play kitchen, too.
