Not Nice Spice
When I was pregnant with my first I blindly listened to my initial obgyn and subsequent midwife to take just any old prenatal vitamin during pregnancy. Since then I’ve learned a lot of things—your traditional vitamin is synthetic, carrying very little to no nutritional value, and that not everyone needs everything. So here I am the third time around ever so slightly wiser and more knowledgeable, and found myself in the hands of a heaven sent midwife.
Prior to getting pregnant I was seeing a dietician and chiropractor that was able to help fill in some of the gaps in my diet. He tested my body using Nutritional Response Testing and after starting supplements from Standard Process I realized how even a small deficiency can have a huge impact; maybe even more so when you’re postpartum. While Standard Process creates a high quality whole food supplement, those pretty little price tags added up a lot faster when I decided to have a homebirth, which meant upfront out of pocket expenses. I was crushed to pause our sessions until after I had our third and it added to the stress of having three babes three years and under. So I was completely floored when I found a midwife who was even more familiar with this area than I could have hoped for. She recommended some Standard Process products, but over the years of practice has found other brands that offer high quality supplements at a more reasonable price. These are the supplements I take daily, but they are not recommended for everyone. These specific supplements are a combination that my medical care finds best to support my pregnancy alongside my diet and lifestyle. To have your healthiest pregnancy, you should always consult your doctor prior to starting new supplements.
