Not Nice Spice
I used to love buying my kids loads of white clothes for summer; frilly dresses for Chickadee or dapper dress shirts for Little Dude, but now we have our very own backyard (heaven, truly!) and these rascals are both rolling in dirt 24/7. So when they both grew a thousand feet in one week, I started scouring sites for good deals. It either had to be a wicked good deal or perfect for getting rough and tough in. I quickly moved past the glorious sites of Nordstrom and Bloomingdales, with baby clothes that would make any cold heart swoon, and circled around Target, Old Navy and Macy’s. But nothing was that good of a deal. I didn’t really want to cough up a nice chunk of change for cute pink shorts that are going to look like my daughter sat in a poop the second she goes down the playground slide because some stinker (usually it’s her!) threw a bunch a mulch on the slide. I love shopping at Baby Gap and Janie & Jack when we have to take the kids to an event, but not for mulch butt.
My penny-pinching self was bummed. Then I remembered getting a few things from Ole Faithful--J.C.Penny! I have officially turned into my mother and I’m not ashamed. I snagged 26 items for about $100 for Chickadee and 26 items for Little Dude for about $150 (including three blankets since he has been using his sister’s pink hand me downs; poor guy!). With that kind of math these kids can have mulch butt all day and every which way! At least half of the items are Carter’s (100% cotton) and the others are the store brand (60% cotton and 40% polyester).
